Career Clusters

The Career Cluster that was best chosen for me was Health Science. Health Science workers help to promote health and wellness. They diagnose and treat injuries and disease. You could also work in a laboratory to get information used in research or provide administrative support by keeping medical records. People in the Health Science department can work in hospitals, offices, clinic, nursing homes, or a sports arena. A couple of jobs that fall under the category of Health Science are : Athletic  trainers, dentists, nurses, and respiratory therapists. Characteristics for this cluster would include being able to work with people, like to take care of people, and uses time wisely. Yes, I know I want it go into a career to help people but I don't know which one yet. In my opinion this was the best choice for me.

Reflection Post on Google docs

Yes, I like being able to work on the same document as my partner, at the same it. It saved time being able to work on two different parts of the same document. One of my favorite features on Google Drive is that it continuously saves your work after every edit. Another thing I like about Google Drive is that you can easily share a document with somebody as long as you know there Google email address to share the document with.
I disliked not being able to see notifications on the chat button. You have to check it constantly to see if your partner responded to your last comment. Google Drive has some features that Microsoft has, but not enough for my liking. One problem we kept on having with the newsletter was columns. Like in a real newspaper we wanted columns to make it look more professional looking, but there was no was to split the page without doing it manually each time after every line.
Google Drive can easily improve on the format choices of the document, presentation, etc. They can add more colors to the choices on the presentations. For the documents add the automatic columns to  keep professional looking work looking neat and well thought out.
Overall, I think my project turned out pretty well. I'm not exactly sure why the documents were not in the folder when it was time to present, but other then that good project. Nice and clear directions too.

Technology IPAD fakes

As I PADS become more and more of a big deal, there are more and more frauds of them. In the article that I read several people claim that they bought an I PAD from either Best Buy or Walmart and it turned out to be a fake. These people say they don't realize the fake until they get home since the box feels about the weight an I PAD should be. Some stores are not refunding to their customers since the package has been open and you can't return an open package and get a refund. From a lady who got her I PAD at Best Buy got her local news station involved, was able to get a refund.
People are now starting to check the serial number to see if that specific I PAD has been activated yet. Whether its at the store or at home people are starting to be more careful of what they buy, to make sure it comes from the manufacture and not a scam artist.

Country Project

Reflection Post on Country Reasearch Project

For the past month my Online experience class we have been practicing our research skills, and recently finished a country project. The reasearch had to consist of history, fun facts, airline information from Detroit, Michigan, the location, and a virtual tour of your country. I did my country on France. I have always wanted to go to France, and this project helped me dig deeper into France. My favorite part of this entire project would be the five attractions. All of the attractions I found intersting and could apply more information to the class then my power point showed. The one part of the whole project I didn't like was the fact that the format was so strict. There was none for opinion, just a flat out instructions and what we had to have.

Clarence Thomas Podcast

Clearence Thomas

Clarence Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia on June 23, 1948. Thomas lived in a one room shack with dirt floors and no plumbing. At the age of two his father abandoned the family. Clarence has two siblings, an older sister named Emma Mae and a younger brother named Myers Lee. Due to financial issues Clarence and his brother, Myers, were sent to live with their grandparents in Savannah, Georgia. Clarence was seven when he started living with his grandparents. During the time of living with his grandparents, he was sent a Catholic school run by nuns. In the year of 1964 Myers Anderson withdrew him from an all- black religious school, and placed him in an all-white Catholic boarding school in Savannah. Through all the schools he attended, he was a good student, with high grades even with the racist remarks from other students. After graduation of the catholic boarding school in 1967, he was sent to a religious education school in Northwestern, Missouri. Never finishing school in Northwestern, Missouri, to the fact of Martin Luther King Jr death, and ending his career to become a priest. After leaving his dream to become a priest behind, he attended college is Worcester, Massachusetts and graduated in 1971. While at college is Worchester he was part of the track team, and help to found the Black Student Union at Holy Cross. During his last year in Worcester he married Kathy Ambush and had a son with her which they named Jamal. Following the graduation he was admitted to Yale law school. Graduated from Yale in 1974. Clarence first job in law was a spot on the staff of Missouri’s republican attorney general, John Danforth. The year of 1979 he moved to Washington D.C. and became a legislative assistant to Danforth on everything but Civil Right issues. In 1981 Clarence became the assistant secretary for Civil Rights in the United States Department of Education. While in this position, Clarence and Kathy had a divorce, and three year after the divorce, Clarence married Virginia Lamp. In 1990 President George bush appointed Clarence circuit of the United States Court of Appeals, a common stepping-stone to the Supreme Court. After only one year in the Court of Appeals, President Bush nominated Clarence to become the new Supreme Court Justice once Thurgood Marshall retired. Once getting the job of Supreme Court Justice, at the age of 43, he has to testify that he had never sexually harassed Anita Hill, a former assistant to Clarence a number years earlier. The case showed that there was not enough evidence to prove Clarence Thomas of any wrongdoing. Clarence Thomas and Virginia Lamp adopted Clarence’s grandnephew, Mark, in 1997. Clarence Thomas is currently the Supreme Court Justice for the United States and is the second African American, after Thurgood Marshall, to be part of the Supreme Court. Reflection Post

I have learned many things in my freshmen computer class. Online safety is one topic I have learned in this class. Some things I learned is to never give out your name, address, school, or current location to anyone you meet online. Chatrooms are the most dangerous place to talk to your frinds becuase anyone can listen and that is where most people become victims to Identity theft. In class we learned about how to avorid identity theft and how to deal with it if it happens to you. Let's admit it people are bullies online. If a bully bothers you onling tell an adult, dont respnd to the threats and block the bully. Just remeber don't be the bully.

New Technology

Byte Light!! The new GPS. Byte lights are able to identify to know where you are by a series of flashes of light(which humans can't see). The software identfies where you are by the bulb you are standing closest to. the bulbs can work through tablets, smartphones, etc.

Identity Theft

The term identity theft means is when someone attempts to become a whole new person to become you, but in there body. there are certain ways to protect yourself online. One way to is never give your name, address, phone number, crdit card numbers unless the IP address looks like https://. The S means that the site is secure.

Christmas Break

During Christmas Break, I spent time with my family and friends. every Christmas Eve I go to my grandparents house on my dad's side. I have one cousin on that side of the family, her name is Katie. As a joke to Katie we wrapped up her gift card present several times to make it the size of several shoe boxes, but made it very light. Katie really enjoyed opening it and took her a good 10 minutes to un wrap layer after layer of wrapping paper. Cristmas this year was celebrated at my house. Th emajority of my family on my mom's side was able to come. Every year we do a gift exchange with one of my mom's sisters. We all got gifts that we enjoyed/needed for feature events. some gifts that where exchanged are toaster oven, lotion, Oakland sweatshirt, I pod cases, etc. Christmas was a fun time this year. I really enjoed spending it with my family. Can;t wait for 2013 Christmas
